The legacy of Jacob and Willem Dooyewaard

In the first half of the twentieth century, the brothers Jacob and Willem Dooijewaard occupied a prominent place among the Laren (and Blaricum) school of painters. Both Jacob and his brother Willem, who is 16 years younger, have lived and worked in Blaricum for a very long time. A year after Willem’s death, the Dooyewaard Foundation was founded in 1981. After the death of Jacoba Dooyewaard, Willem’s widow (in 1995), the Foundation receives working capital with which Historical studios are preserved and the Dooyewaard stipend is created.
